Terroir of Tasmania Series - Peated Botrytis

The first release of our new series. Terroir of Tasmania celebrates the very special collegial nature of the Tasmanian spirits industry. While we built Derwent Distillery we reached out to our friends within the industry to work together and this release was distilled by Robbie at Port Arthur, creating one of the most unique whiskies we’ve ever had the pleasure of putting together.

Distilled using Scottish peat smoked barley and mataured in ex-botrytis casks, this single malt whisky offers everything you could want from a smoked release.

Nose: Smoke jumps out of the glass, rich smouldering bonfire with forals like lavender. and rich butterscotch with dried figs and apricots.

Pallet: A nice amount of fragrant smoke which disperses into dark chocolate, sweet orange marmelade and sweet liquorice. A wonderful lingering finish with a perfect balance of peat, sweetness, malt spirit and oak influence.
